Having a significant monthly payment every month that was largely interest drove me crazy. For those with the discipline to borrow at a low rate, pay the interest on that, and then invest the money they could have used to pay off that loan getting a higher return than the interest rate on the loan, profiting off the difference, more power too them. I went with the rule, 'don't pay interest, and I like it. The paid off home is an available -- albeit not liquid -- asset, and cash flow is a breeze with no loan payments.
