I drive electric. When I drove gas, my local gas station provided 95% of my fuel needs with distant stations providing the rest on trips. With electric, local charging stations provide none of my fuel (I charge at home) and distant charging stations provide a small but crucial five percent.

My biggest problem is infrastructure failure. I don't recall being worried about gas stations being out of service, but I worry about that with public charging stations all the time.
