I once got hired by an out-of-state lawyer to probate his deceased father's estate. After we talked on the phone and he retained me, he informed me that that was the last time he ever wanted to speak to me. He said he knew from his own practice that my assistant could do everything he needed, and at less than half the hourly rate.
